Joy is Projected Augmented Reality

Seen a bit of this running around lately, but this is the first successful use of it for advertising that has come across our desks, and now yours. (We say it is successful since it is a strong message and strong medium)

ENVISION : Step into the sensory box from SUPERBIEN on Vimeo.

We've posted something like this before, but it looks to have evolved. Beautiful.

AR Next

The almost natural next step for the tech, of course you could just get the tattoo. Or bring it to life. But then you wouldn't be the bad ass you really are now would you? Interesting application.

Augmented Overload

Augmented (hyper)Reality: Domestic Robocop from Keiichi Matsuda on Vimeo.

This is partly a worse case scenario meant to be humorous and somewhat fear-inducing. I tend to see a ton of really cool opportunity there. Isn't that why we have designers in the first place, to avoid this confusion.

Best Use of Augmented Reality...So Far

In Japan you can now use AR in a Vending Machine, good idea. Users can bring a printout or use your cell phone to access it, ok, not so intuitive (especially since there is a window with actual product right there). Afterwards (and here is where there could be gold) you hold the product up and get (awesome so far) to see the (wait for it) ingredients and nutritional value... let down!

If only they would have been entertaining, I guess we'll have to give them some time, they are sooooo close!

Augmented Reality Hits Mainstream

Couple thoughts, the technology is really catching on in the states, finally after years world wide. People are now beginning to find meaningful uses for it. Playstation has the hardware to really beef it up which is the pro, the con, it still seems removed form your interacting with it and, right now, seems to be best used on a mobile device that allows you to move around any where. Great start, we may be seeing a shift in interactivity towards leaving screens, just not there yet. Oh, and the reporter in the video sucks, there is no reporter on the table, again, there is no reporter on the table.

Tea Time

This is where the future of augmented reality is going, no not bad video, but surprises in packaging. Would have liked to see more of this, better song though.
