The Anti Fairey Movement

Just Spotted this. An equally stunning idea pulled from Shepard's campaign poster's controversy. If you are not aware, the controversy stems from Shepard using/stealing (dependent on your view) from AP's photos to create his poster. Frankly, he did steal the image and heavily altered it, both sides have a case, however, as any smart Art Director/Photographer/Designer knows, Shepard could have easily avoided the whole issue. Either way, this is as great a statement, even if it is a rip off of Shepard's work. The poster is a teaser for Armando Iannucci’s In The Loop, the feature-length spin-off from his wonderful political comedy The Thick Of It. It is almost as good as this.

Tesla Strikes Back

This isn't advertising, design, copy, illustration, heck, it's not even really an idea. It is just plain cool and you my friend, deserve some thing cool. Ain't science grand. By the way, thats a Tesla Coil, and yes it could kill you. Via Gizmodo.

Uncomfortably Sweet

Story telling is a wonderful skill. Take 12 min and watch this Schweppes ad by Australian director Patrick Hughes.

Old School Interactive

Fun idea for Panamerica School of Design. Love the idea. Love the challenge. Excuse me now while I run over to printer and see how far I can go. AlmapBBDO, São Paulo, Brazil.

Light Calligraphy

Two of the toughest skills to master have been elegantly blended with amazing results. The eye popping light painting/calligraphy you see here is the work of photographer/typographer Julien Breton aka Kaalam light caligrapher. As a fan of both, these are amazing.

Getty Images Partner with Flickr

The screen shot you see above is from Getty Images. Their new enterprise centers around some of the amazing photography you can find in Flickr and, in a sense, funding it. They will be handpicking (really, how do you do that digitally?) thousands of photos to put in their Flickr collective. Photographers now have a new way to be corporately discovered and rewarded.

YouTube in its Own

Witness the birth of a new music form, the YouTube mash up. Artist Kutiman (yes, Artist) scoured random music clips and made something of it. Amazing.

Retro

Look to your local Target to bring these retro cereal boxes back. That is very cool. The design i cleaner, more impactful and more meaningful, but that is according to me. I'll be interested to see if the true target, kids (as Kix ix for) will be as impressed. However, winning the Pontiac may sway them.

These are just pure fun. Wieden + Kennedy London.

Love this, especially the little details in the retouching. GmbH, Hamburg, Germany

Siftables

Siftables are cookie-sized blocks that can communicate to one another and allow users to develop unique narratives in seconds. These toys can do math, create music, talk to their friends and are pushing the boundaries of what screens are and what screens can do. Goodbye GUI. Welcome TUI.

Piece together for Peace

Great awareness, nice message, beautiful look. Simple, dynamic.
Head over here to see more of the world as zodiac animals from artist Kentaro Nagai.
