I don't think there is much doubt about the architecture in Beijing, but now, in Lego. Freakin' Lego!

This is Animated

This is completely animated. Through a complex system where an actor comes in, essentially, get scanned, then animated. It's pretty realistic (apparently the eyes are difficult), only odd in a few places. The only question I have is why? Why spend more to animate than to shoot an actress. In the view of animation director Hayao Miyazaki, the only reason to animate is to bring something to life that is not possible through film.

Still, pretty amazing.

Water Drop Sculpture

Check out the work of sculpter Héctor Serrano, and his dynamic work for Roca. while it is truly pretty, the motion of the ocean is really captivating, but, don't trust me, see it for yourself.

Reality

When beauty and horror are brought together in one image the result is often moving. What is really amazing is how he is in the middle of the action. Check out James Nachtwey photography, and come away moved.

Steamroller Printing at Beautiful Angle

Lance Kagey and Tom Llewellyn of Beautiful Angle in Tacoma Washington, used a steamroller to create this 3 x 4 feet broadside for a bookstore event. The result may not have been the best print, but you know the process would be fun! Check out BeautifulAngle.com to see other work and read the history of their guerilla postering project.

The Future of Interfaces

Smashing Magazine has posted 10 future user interfaces

that are pretty mind-blowing to those of us whose work is produced mainly on paper. And speaking of paper, the holographic technology used in Musion's Eyeliner 3D (in video above) would certainly take the paper fashion show to new levels; of course, it wouldn't be paper then, would it? 

New great technology is great, but I offer Khoi Vinh's perspective on the need for simplicity 

to put the new stuff to good use. Enjoy.

Another example of artists supporting a leader. Not sure where this is all leading (crowds chanting in unison feverishly always raises a red flag for me) but I like the involvement.

Rebus Puzzles

Love this idea for Lucky Rootbeer bottles. What I can't seem to find if they are throw backs or if they are currently being offered. Either way, would be a great find as I enjoy my frothy root brew.

Nice Animations

The computer animation is ok, the stop motion animation is excellent, as are the character design. Playful, environmental ads aimed at children. Head on over to see the four takes and decide for yourself.

Return of the Polaroid

As reported over at Gizmodo:
"While the tears spilled mourning the death of Polaroid's instant film division are still somewhat damp, the company has a little spark of an announcement that could make hardcore 'roiders (of the best kind) happy—the company looks like it's finally getting serious about building its Zink instant digital printing tech into a camera."

Could it be, the return of polaroid, as long as I don't ever need to use it, good news.

I'm just highly thankful these exist. Simple and beautiful. Found over at NotCot, these paper plates from Wasara are just stunning.

Manifest Hope

This is one of the artists in the Manifest gallery. He goes by the name Eddie, and this looks great. Another reason to go.

One of the benefits from th DNCC is the attention it will put on Denver. Even better, the art it will add to Denver. I was excited about the DNCC, but I am really pumped about this, be worth fighting the crowds.

The 10,000 square foot venue will display work by both established an emerging artists. Additionally, the proponents of the candidate that can actually raise his arms above his head will hold an art contest and 30 submissions will be featured in an online gallery with the top 5 hung physically at the 'Hope' Gallery.

Something very romantic about the typewriter. Complex machinery that has the sole purpose of putting letters on page. Too bad they are nearly, completely, unnecessary any more. At least, there is a second life for som. Keep in mind, Jeremy uses a process he terms "Cold Fitting," in which no welding or glue is used. Head on over to his site to see more of the art.

Ikea

Ikea tends to do a lot of "put your stuff out there" campaigning, but, it does still work. This is a promotion from Host, Australia:

The change was shown each day at the campaign microsite. A competition which could be entered via SMS or at the campaign site enabling people to win the makeover each day, with the entire room contents available at the end of each week in each state.

Wine in a Can

While I don't have much from the website, I am digging the design (except the shape of the can). Or, at least, the opening and the black-all-over look. If wine in a can has a few hurdles to get over, I'd be over them with the design.
