Lego
This isn't great story telling, it just happens to be great medium. The entire thing is self animated (minus the early bits) using some pirates legos and Mindstorms. The medium is the thing with potential. Couldn't pass this up to share it with you.
Pet Adoption
This ambient would absolutely tug at the old heart strings. Love to see more of this, the work that tells a story in a highly engaging way. TBWA/Frederick, Chile.

Smell-o-vision??
Audio, visual and tactile senses always win. Christophe Laudamiel, a professional perfumer, describes how important olfaction (or the sense of smell) is to memory, association and concentration. The nose has over 300 receptors; the eye, just 4. Smell can be powerful stuff! Check out his work and involvement with products and spaces in this lecture from Mind08 at the MOMA last year.

ADCD Judge Numero Quattro. Entries due Friday May 29.
Call-for-entries for ADCD Annual Show has been extended to May 29, friends. And for good reason.
While we’re getting great response from all Denver-creative types, we want the crème de la crème for our rockstar judging panel, which now includes Will McGinness out of the legendary San Francisco treat of an agency known as Goodby Silverstein & Partners.
Will made his mark early at Arnold lassoing the highly-prized VW account, and soon became a playa in helping Goodby redefine the agency as a force in holistic marketing. His efforts for gettheglass.com, a breathtaking game for Got Milk? as well as the Comcastic web site alone shows his fearlessness in smashing through new walls to find creative ways to tackle new media. He’s also worked on Saturn, Rolling Rock, Doritos and Hyundai. Along with the tons of awards he’s won in virtually every show, he was the Interactive Jury Chair for the 2008 One Show.
Lots of great work rolling in. Is yours among them? Should be. The 2009 ADCD Annual Show is gearing up to be one of our best ever.
Go to adcd.com and show us your babies.

French Team Redesigns Sustainable Energy
Read the full article here. This is brilliant. The old idea that you have to build new platforms and infrastructures seemed generally accepted, until now. One of the greatest ideas in the field. One of those ideas that once you see it, it just seems obvious. Well done.

Ikea Again Again
You say the newspaper is dead, I say hold on there buckaroo. This appears to be a new idea on bringing an ad to life, or at least new to me. Fantastic job bringing life to the declining medium and to something as seemingly mundane as closet space. If only this would spark new readers. 303 Group, Perth, Australia.

Big thanks to the creatives from Adult Swim
Creative Director Jacob Escobedo and “Bump Man” Michael Cahill brought a great presentation, full of laughs and, more importantly, a reminder that great work isn't always easy. It is however, always worth the struggle. Great guys, great work, great inspiration and a great presentation. Look for bumps from Denver, we hope.

If you are a fan of public radio, as I am. You are well aware of Ira Glass' work. Witty, pithy, poignant. This is a new wrinkle they added when they had their live show. Just pure fun. Enjoy.

Something's Radiating in New Mexico
The careers of most creatives seem to hit a certain spike where they do that one grand slam project. You know the one. It grabs checkered flag after checkered flag at the award-show circuit, and takes the pole position of your portfolio. Quite frankly, it becomes difficult to find anyone who repeats such success and churns out great work after great work after great work. We got a little lucky when we found Bart Cleveland, one of our judges for the 2008-2009 Art Director’s Club of Denver Annual Show.
Bart Cleveland is that rare bird who isn’t running a sprint, but a marathon. With two decades under his belt, Bart has created knockout branding campaigns for Coca-Cola, CNN, Cartoon Network and many clients that don’t begin with the letter “c”. And over those two decades, that work has garnished multiple showings in The One Show, CA, D&AD and the Clios.
He has been at many agencies in the Atlanta area, and today, he is the Creative Director/Partner of McKee Wallwork Cleveland in Albuquerque. His team’s last campaign for Porsche cracked the coveted Communication Arts Ad Annual last year. Oh, and he’s a total class act.
The call-for-entries is out and the work is rolling in and it looks good. Is yours in the mix? You can enter everything online at adcd.com. Our entry fees have still stayed the same low price. And if you’re a member, you can spend a ceiling fee of $700 and can enter everything under the sun.
Now this will get Attention

OMG
OMG, three of my favorite things, sculpted crayons, reverse cinematography, and melting crayons. Wheeee. Now I only wish my other favorites were there: bunnies, wholly functional idea, parsnips and good copy. Still, looks pretty.

b-flat
Experimentation on YouTube. Darren Solomon from Science for Girls is looking for you to play anything as long as it is in bflat, you can go to his site, inbflat.com and play any of the uploaded videos in any order and creat your own artistic piece. Really wild stuff. Here are the guidlines:
-Sing or play an instrument, in Bb major. Simple, floating textures work best, with no tempo or groove. Leave lots of silence between phrases.
-Record in a quiet environment, with as little background noise as possible.
-Wait about 5-10 seconds to start playing.
-Total length should be between 1-2 minutes.
-Thick chords or low instruments don't work very well.
-Record at a low volume to match the other videos.
-You can listen to this mix on headphones while you record.
-After you upload to YouTube, play your video along with the other videos on this page to make sure the volume matches.

Brent Barson pulled this wonderful film that catalogs the creative Process alphabetically, and while I experienced it all today, this more than made up for it. Oh, and if you want to know the font, its Proxima Nova.
Pepsi Throwback
Remember when sugar was bad, now it is good again. I can't keep up. Either way I want this because it doesn't have the crappy logo on it. Yea throwback.
