Content
The audience knows what it wants. This is a short film, made by fans for fans (made by talented fans to be sure) that is an extension of the films. Looks well produced, and will be free to download. Yes, the audience know what it wants, and will make it if they need to.
Google Chrome Shorts
Let the browser wars start. OK, maybe not that heavy, this is a great way to introduce a product to the world because who really wants to talk browsers when they can talk about movies, by a lot of people. These were the ones I liked, but go find your favorites here.

Stand By Me, Street Version
There has been a lot of talk about content and sharing in my day today, then I found this over at Gizmodo. If ever there was something that was relevant to a person, would it not be music + need + talent + giving someone a chance. Playingforchange.com traveled the world, found a talented group of people who would never meet each other and put together one incredibly moving piece of art. If ever I had hope for the world, this seemed to make it now. God bless the internet, this is what it was meant for.

SCRABBLE FOOL
It's been around for a long time, and lately there have been some great ads for it. Seems to be the new Lego for the award shows. That said, this is different than what we have seen. Almost gives an edge to the old school board game. I'm here to say, either way, the word is cool.

Nike Presents
Onwards from akqa on Vimeo.
This was an animation experiment produced by Artist James Jarvis that would ultimately be his expression of running. He had Nike in mind when he produced it, what really catches my attention is the Nike Sponsorship. For years now we have been talking about user generated this and that, but it now has a form to follow. Really interested to see where this is headed and if it sparks something more.

A Designer You Should Know
Award Show Judge Bryan Jessee
Hey, if you are not aware, consider this your own personal Awareness Message. The ADCD Annual Awards show is live and the Call for Entries has been announced. Want more, go to the online entry form and rules here. In the meantime, gather your best work of the last year and get it in. Remember, you can not be identified as one of Denver's best if your work is not listed as Denver's best. Besides, we have a steller group of judges, why not read about one right now?
We reached deep into cattle country to pull a star out of the Lone Star State. Bryan Jessee is a well-known veteran in these parts with a resume touting a who’s who of Texas ad agencies. GSD&M. The Richards Group. And today, McGarrah Jessee, an agency nestled in Austin that he co-founded with Mark McGarrah. The 75-person agency is quite a noisemaker, being represented in top advertising and design shows for clients such as Shiner Beer, Frost Bank, and Whataburger. McGarrah Jessee also hooked and reeled in honors for architectural design and two publications, proving that Bryan’s agency is one to keep a good eye on. They also operate a design arm called Chaos Concept Manufacturing.

When you're winless, you can only go up.
The 0-16 Detroit Lions needed some change (obviously). Off the field comes this new logo. While the team's Honolulu blue, white and black uniforms are untouched, the logo has more of a fierceness with the name in an italicized slant. But they're 0-16, so is anyone really paying attention?
Ok, we are. As far as sport logos go, more specifically, NFL logos (yes, there is a style) the illustration is not bad. In our opinion, it's kinda like IBM. Updated classic. BUt, not so sure about the typography. Not doing it for us.
Action Oxymoron
Pretty amazing work. The action flick without the action. Yes it is for selling TV's. Seem not only Bravia can do some cool work. hillips has joined the fray.

Not a big fan of the "other guy" format but the spot more than makes up for it with animation and a clear understanding of the traveler. Or, maybe that's just because I just got off a tightly packed plane.

Reviewers
Coming up this week is the Student Review. For the uninitiated, ADCD and AIGA are putting the ones with the new books together with people who have, shall we say, seen a lot of them. That is bringing some of Denver's Best Creative Directors together with this year's best and brightest students to give them (thde students that is) a chance at improving their books and presentation skills. We thought we'd take a few of the best and deliver their bios:
Eric Winslow
Eric Winslow attended Colorado State University and holds a BFA in Design Communications. He has been involved in art and design from an early age and has learned that these two things can have a profound influence on people as well as himself. Eric has developed many successful promotional campaigns for such clients as Coors Brewing Company, Boston Market, Reebok, Qwest Communications, Mastercraft Boats, Coca Cola and Carter’s. His experience has won numerous regional and national awards in disciplines such as interactive media, corporate identity, advertising, environmental design, packaging, point-of-purchase, promotions and collateral. Eric’s work has been featured in HOW magazine, Print magazine, Logo Lounge, Best of Stationery, POPAI (point-of-purchase book), Graphic Design USA and the Denver Business Journal.
Eric was selected as one of Denver’s Forty under 40 in 2007 for his community involvement and successful business leadership. He has Helped organizations like the Nathan Yip Foundation, Habitat for Humanity, Mountain States Cup Regional Mountain Bike Championship Series, Donor Alliance, Denver Zoological Foundation, USA Cycling, Colorado Arts Festival and the American Institute of Graphic Arts. Adult Swim: Jacob Escobedo and “Bump Man” Michael Cahill
Continuing on our romp through those things you should do. Do RSVP on the link right over there >>>>>> for Adult Swim.
Not familiar with Adult Swim you say? Sad existence you live. Fear not. Head on to the site, see the experience that is...Adult Swim. Or just stay awake really late, put the kids to bed and turn on Cartoon Network. Be forewarned though, this ain't your kid's network.
The formal words:
Recent years have seen animation roar back into the spotlight as the courageous Adult Swim gravitates this world away from Saturday morning to Saturday nights. Titles today like Fullmetal Alchemist, Sealab, Cowboy BeBop, and Robot Chicken have introduced this new era with creativity, style, and a little sass.
We’re thrilled to announce our May speaker will be a team from Adult Swim. Creative Director Jacob Escobedo and “Bump Man” Michael Cahill will be speaking at an ADCD event, Thursday May 14. Their presentation will cover all things past, present and future for the powerhouse network.
It’s happening at Rocky Mountain College of Art and Design. ADCD members and RMCAD students (with ID) are free. Non-members are $20 and students are $15. Seating is limited-big time. Get tickets to this event while you can.
But why be formal, just get there.
Chase Jarvis
Hey Kiddies. Thought we would take a little time and get you up to speed on our up coming events. First, let's divide you into two groups. The first is those of you who know Chase Jarvis. If you know him, know he is the first of our Annual Show Judges this year and he is speaking for us in June. More details to come on that. If you don't know him, hit his website, check out some great photography and then come back here.
Now that you are all up to speed, check out some of the vids he has pulled together.
Oh, yeah, also know that the Annual Show Call for Entries is coming, and if you want, get the head start here, or just wait for the mailer. What ever floats your boat. Just get Denver's best work here so that we can flaunt it.

Web 2.0 Mapped Out
Women's Aid
This is powerful stuff, Yes, it's a tough issue to portray (anything this horrible usually is), but the imagery, and the metaphor are really nice. It's made even more powerful by the use of an unexpected leading lady.
Card-a-pult
Bryce Bell has a new idea in business cards, card warfare. It promises to stay on the desk of anyone you give it to, especially as a mechanical engineer.
