What's a deadline?

During the cash-strapped civil war, prisons were too expensive to build. So boundary lines were drawn in the dirt in which captured soldiers ran the risk of being shot by guards if they dared cross them.

Deadlines have a different meaning today (obviously). Especially for students:

• Student Show entries are due at a drop off location no later than Oct. 26.
