Polaroid Corp., the Massachusetts company that gave the world instant film photography, is shutting down its film manufacturing lines in the state and abandoning the technology that made the company famous.

On the one hand, if you ever have been to a photoshoot in which the photographer hands you a polaroid after shaking it, flapping it and placing it in his armpit and then asking you what you think of it, and then you have to make an educated guess on whether the film will look anything like this (film is the stuff they used to put into cameras) then you too will feel my joy about the death of a 40+ year old technology that was never improved upon.
