Go Forth

I am really starting to love the new Levi's Campaign. Beautiful art, but a wonderful message. Even one that is can motivate the cynical advertisers, such as we.

Graffiti Analysis: 3D from Evan Roth on Vimeo.

Really interesting translation to an oft overlooked artform.

It's like a Kiss

Sure I'm a sucker for slow motion filmography, but the subtle smile really caught me.

SMART

Nice little bit of stop animation spot for the new SMART Board out of Sharpe Blackmore Euro RSCG. There's a soft spot in my heart for the effort of stop motion.

ADCD Winners Announced Mid-July

The calls are coming in. Some of you are getting antsy. We get it.

Expect winner's letters to be sent out around mid-July.

We're busy getting them assembled as well as planning for the show. Know that it was a dogfight between all this great work, and in the end, we're excited for what will be a spectacular show.

Hang tight, and thanks for your patience.

Trick Shots

Something nice about the intrigue of the fancy trick shots on the fuse ball table. But what is really great is the YouTube Extensions and the behind the scenes:

Either the shots are real, and they are pretty amazing, or the whole thing is fake, and that too, is amazing. I'm going with the latter, the shots don't look quite right, but the extended idea is quite intriguing.

Simple idea that most of us, probably, missed. Only wish the art or message was a bit better.

Judging

Just in case you missed it, and we are pretty sure you might have, we held our Annual Show Judging over this last weekend. Big props and thanks to our esteemed judges, In order, top to bottom) Paul Elledge of Paul Elledge Photography, Sam Maclay of 3 advertising, Blake Bakken of Venables Bell & Partners, and Clint! Runge of Archrival. You can see them at work above.

They proved to have that wonderfully critical eye. Found what we knew to be true, there is some really top notch work in Denver. They even found a little time on Friday night to inspire. Who knows, if you look closely enough, you might be able to see your work under their approving eye.

See Underneath

At first I really loved the joke of a X-ray Pinup Calendar, then realized, it was as interesting as a regular pin-up calendar (maybe I just really like x-rays). But the brilliant part is who it is for. Butter, Berlin/Duesseldorf, Germany for EIZO medical imaging high precision displays.

Four creatives. One night. Recap.

ADCD just held judging weekend, and we're doing backflips over the amazing work they selected for the show, coming September 24.

Those lucky enough to be part of the panel were treated to intriguing and thought-provoking advice, as board member Matthew Wyne shares on his blog.

Thanks Matthew.

Sure I was asking "Why?" when I saw the puppet, but the insight is so well illustrated I can't imagine this any better.

All That Glitters

These are really wonderful. Breakthrough communication. Rethink, Vancouver, Canada (Former ADCD Awardshow Judge was the Writer)

Golden Billboard: A billboard wrapped in 22-karat gold has been unveiled by Rethink to promote the new “Treasure!” summer exhibit at the Vancouver’s science-based museum. The 18.5-square metre billboard–which took three weeks and $11,000 to produce–is the first of its kind in the world, said Rethink spokeswoman Jennifer Newstead. The golden behemoth was created with the help of Brian Dedora, a master gilder in Vancouver. Located near the busy Granville Island market, the billboard was covered with gold pounded so thinly that only 56 grams of the precious metal was needed to cover the entire surface. The three-dimensional letters that spell out the headline “2 oz. of Gold Can Cover A Billboard” are covered with gold as well.

Diamond Billboard: A billboardwith glued 9,000 dazzling glass “diamonds” to a billboard to promote Science World’s Treasure exhibit, and to dramatize this fact: compared to most other gems, diamonds aren’t all that rare.

Our Modern World

Somewhere, someone is making money on the internet.

Waiting for Moby

Beautiful work. To bad it was for a contest to promote Moby. Like the video, like Moby, hate the idea of this and 499 other videos submitted to have a chance to "win." Not even sure this winning entry was paid for.

In a Confused Galaxy, Far, Far Away

Undecided on this, but it is hard to look away. Not sure they are living up to their promise of celebrating originality by delivering a parody. Then again, I liked it better than the original anyway.

All Things Digital

As a longtime fan of a lot of the shows on NPR, consider this proof that National Public Radio has a sense of humor and it wants to expand its audience. Brilliant.

Tea Bags

Great idea for a small, often overlooked, problem, what to do with the wet, used tea bag. Place taht spent tea bag on the coaster and have it create a work of art for you as you sip your tea. Simple idea that involves the tea-drinker. Makes the experience more memorable. Yuree S Lim and Jleun Yang
