This was here for the sound track, then the idea was too great to not share. Lovely.

These seem a bit menacing, like if you don't choose the right food he'll haul you, but maybe that is just y fear of polar bears in my freezer coming through.

London 2012

The logo wasn't a total success, but these might be. Time will see if they can remain contemporary for two years.

"Our brief was to create mascots that would excite and inspire young people and encourage them to get involved in sport. We wanted everyone, especially young people, to be able to take part, so we asked ourselves, ‘Why have one mascot when you can have millions?'" says Grant Hunter of Iris."

Simple Idea that makes for a fun execution. Doesn't separate it from the competition, but it does make it memorable. the balance is in there somewhere. Scholz & Friends, Berlin, Germany.

Interview with Paul Elledge, Annual Show Judge

I was able to grab a few minutes with Paul Elledge, photographer, and one of our 2010 Annual Show judges, to talk about past projects, funny moments and what he is looking forward to seeing when he comes to Denver. I had a great time talking with him and you can meet him too when we fly him out for the Annual Show judging in June. We'll post more information on that soon. In the meantime, make sure you get your entries in, the deadline is fast approaching!

Not sure the line is that clever, but the idea of making the ad itself is at least noteworthy, not to mention the fun it would be to set up the demonstration.

Introducing the NEW 2010 ADCD Annual Show

At ADCD, the creative community has always been our top priority. From digital to traditional, photography to illustration, advertising to design, we believe Colorado should be well represented in all facets of creative marketing.

That’s the goal of our new show. You want to win the category you enter.

There will be fifteen category winners that will stand out as the best of our creative community. You want to win the print advertising category. You want to win the illustration category. You want to be at the top of a category of strong work.

Judge’s choices are gone. Best of Show is gone. You can still win gold, silver, or bronze.

But what you really want in this show…is for your work to represent Colorado’s creative marketing scene. You want it to be part of the greater creative circle.

REGISTER TODAY.

Honest, Real...Nope

The pacing on this sets you up so well, it just makes you watch. refreshing considering all the sports/MTV cuts you see out there.

Made from the plastic of 111 plastic Coke Bottles. Iconic brand being iconic again. Even the release of this wonderfully quiet film protraying the freezing and shooting process is beautiful. Bravo. Once again proving you don't have to be flashy for a big idea, it just has to resonate.

Never Reach

Clever bit of insight and wonderful illustration to boot. I might add that there are places your tongue should never reach, but that, alas, is another post.

House, Shot on Canon 5d mark II

Not one to post TV shows. Mostly, there isn't a real reason to, but you might want to flip to Fox on the 18th as they will be shooting this episode all in a HDSLR. Should be some fantastic images, if the 1st two minutes are any indication.

Could this be the new Cinematographic face of entertainment?

The Review: Lori Sheng, Best in Process Book

At the Review two Saturdays back, we were shocked at how many great books already look so senior, and yet they've only been in school a year or two. Lori Sheng's fits this category, and we awarded her the Best in Process Book. She was awarded a 3-in-1 printer, sponsored by our friends at Epson. Way to go, Lori.

Meet Miya Kobayashi, Second Best Book

We also expect to see Miya making waves in the design world too. Another sparkling portfolio among the many books we were fortunate to see last Saturday. Congrats, Miya. Beautiful work.

Meet Jesse Spencer, Top Portfolio at the Review.

We were surprised and delighted by the incredible professionalism and maturity of our candidates at the Review. Jesse certainly stood out. His portfolio and passion stood out. We hope to see Jesse rocking and rolling the community soon.

The Review. A Review.

The Review. A Review.

The future of design is in good hands, friends and colleagues. ADCD and AIGA held The Review, an annual get-together where students share their portfolios with top design professionals, who provide constructive feedback and career advice.

Congrats to Jesse Spencer, a UNC senior, who won Best Finished Book and a $1,000 scholarship, courtesy of our friends of AIGA.

Also congrats to Miya Kobayashi, another UNC senior, who was recognized with the Second Place Finished Book. Maya will receive a $400 scholarship, courtesy of the Creative Group.

The Best In-Process book goes to Lori Sheng from Metro State. She received a 3—in-1 printer, thanks to Epson.

Huge thanks to so many. All of the reviewers who sacrificed their Saturdays to lend a hand to budding creatives. All of the great students (of course). Peter Regenold Bergman (Visiting Assistant Prof. of Communication Design at Metro State, and ADCD Education Chair) and Tara Pederson (Owner Intentio Studios, AIGA Education Co-Chair, and Affiliate Faculty at Metro State) for orchestrating the event. Charles Carpenter, AIGA President, and Jay Roth, ADCD President for judging the top books.

Also thanks to Chipotle for providing lunch, and Ink Lounge for holding the network event at the Rialto.

How are your hand skills?

Then participate in the sketchbook project.
Do it, do it now.

Thousands of sketchbooks will be exhibited at galleries and museums as they make their way on tour across the country.

After the tour, all sketchbooks will enter into the permanent collection of The Brooklyn Art Library, where they will be barcoded and available for the public to view.

Start the Young Typographers Early

Studio 3, an in-school design agency at the Graphic Design Department of Westerdals School of Communication just produced this workbook of typography for designers. The intent is to maybe teach something. However, the way it was styled would be perfect to introduce solid typography to young budding designers, really young. Hit the link to flip through the book or purchase.

No Doubt that game platforms are wonderful story telling devices. This brings the story out of the box. Nice bit of film without dialog. Even better since they did not feel the need to show the game footage.
